Charlie is a Board Director of Waterman Structures and has a passion for design excellence and sustainability. He has championed the design of passively-cooled office buildings, implementing this at landmark projects such as Quadrant:Mk and the Ordnance Survey HQ. His portfolio also includes many award-winning buildings such as Victoria Gate in Leeds, Buckingham Green, 1 and 2 New Ludgate, Bart’s Square and this year’s World Architecture Festival award-winner, The Bower.
His commitment to creative design and innovation in engineering punctuates his career, and this has been a key theme throughout his speaking engagements and editorial commitments. Charlie is a driving force behind some of Waterman’s internal initiatives, launching the Architectural Engineering team, a company-wide sketch club and the Engineers Forum as platforms for knowledge sharing and to boost staff presentation skills. He is also a member of the Waterman Zero Carbon Taskforce, driving research and developing tools and techniques to optimise designs, whilst reducing embodied and whole-life carbon.
