Study Tour: Paper Garden

Tour

Wednesday 02 August 2023
08:30 - 10:00

Join Waterman Group at south London’s Canada Water for a special study tour of the circular economy-focused Paper Garden Education Shed.
Forming part of British Land’s extensive 53-acre Canada Water regeneration scheme, the new Paper Garden Education Shed has been designed to repurpose discarded materials and fully embraces circularity. This incredible space is being utilised by environmental education charity, Global Generation, for community use, and is their base for delivering a unique environmental education programme.

Waterman teamed up with Jan Kattein Architects, Wates Construction and woods craftsmen, Yes Make, to design and build the Shed, utilising a truly collaborative design and construction approach. The Shed has been a unique opportunity for people from different construction disciplines to take a totally fresh approach to design, seeing them come together with the local community on a voluntary basis to craft a sustainable building from the materials available, much of which is sourced from the demolition of Canada Water’s existing buildings.

Led by Charlie Scott (Director at Waterman Group), Martina Mina (Joint Director at Global Generation) and Heloise Desaissement (Architect at Jan Kattein Architects), the tour will focus on how circular economy principles were embedded into the scheme from the outset, explaining how the key learnings can be applied to developments of any scale as our industry forges a path to a greener future.

Please note this is an in-person event and with a maximum capacity of 25 therefore tickets will be allocated on a first come first served basis, with a maximum of two tickets per organisation.
