New London Architecture

15 years of public realm

Talk

Tuesday 10 November 2020
10:00 - 11:00

This webinar brings experts together to discuss the evolution of public realm during the last 15 years, an exceptional period of change.

In the last 15 years, public space has become a fundamentally important element of making places work for people. This applied not only to London’s traditional outdoor spaces — its urban squares, such a distinctive element of the historic fabric of the Great Estates — but also streets and roads, via the Mayor and TfL’s ‘Healthy Streets’ initiative, which seeks to prioritise walking, cycling and public transport through holistic placemaking principles that aim to create not only a healthier city — through increased physical activity and improved air quality — but also a safer and cleaner one.

The Changing Face of London delves into the capital’s recent history and explores the transformative moments over the past fifteen years. This webinar brings experts together to discuss the evolution of public realm during this exceptional period.
