Build Back Better - Call for ideas
NLA's new initiative Build Back Better looks to the future; showcasing new ideas and solutions for a resilient post-pandemic London.
We're inviting everyone in our network and beyond to take on the Build Back Better challenge presenting an idea responding to one of the themes below. Your idea could comprise of a building, a strategy, a policy, a manifesto, a masterplan, or any unbuilt concept.
The initiative will launch with a series of events powered by PechaKucha dates and themes detailed below.
Submissions are free and all ideas are submitted using the same form - you can submit ideas for any of the below themes at any time before the deadline of that theme.
To submit all we need is a short description of your idea and an image or drawing to illustrate it.
- Build Back Better, promoting active travel
Ideas for moving around the city, promoting cycling and walking, improving street design including temporary improvements to streets and street closures and rethinking transport buildings – Event Thursday 18 June
Submission deadline for active travel ideas: Friday 12 June
- Build Back Better, rethinking the high street
Future ideas for the high street and hospitality – Event Monday 6 July
Submission deadline for high street ideas: Monday 29 June
- Build Back Better, embracing better living
Ideas for living that aid physical and mental health, from homes for heroes and key
worker housing to communal dwellings that improve wellbeing – Event Monday 20 July
Submission deadline for better living ideas: Monday 6 July
- Build Back Better, reworking office space
Concepts for mixed-use flexible buildings that encourage new ways of workings; reimagining user behaviours in spaces, from home, to work and the journey in-between – Event August (date TBC)
Submission deadline for reworking office space ideas: Monday 20 July
Ideas submitted could be selected for inclusion in an event and/or a content piece on the NLA website, social channels / digital outputs.
