After a year of massive disruption following the COVID-19 pandemic, what has been the impact on the London’s tall buildings pipeline, which last year counted over 500 towers at various stages of planning and construction? How has the construction and development industry responded to the pandemic and continued disruption in the market?

The past year has also seen significant policy changes in planning and building regulations, with the release of some major consultations concerning the Planning White Paper, the Building Safety Bill and the Future Homes Standards among others. The new London Plan, formally adopted and published in March 2021, is also introducing new policies for tall buildings which London Boroughs will have to respond to.

And with questions remaining about the future of the city in the post-pandemic world, how can this building typology respond to new pressing priorities such as the health and wellbeing of residents, flexibility of uses and the climate agenda?

This webinar heard from research partner Knight Frank presenting the new tall buildings pipeline and other key contributors about the changing landscape for high rises in the capital.
